註：畫上鈐「南潯劉氏」藏印，即民國時期書畫收藏家劉湖涵（1891-1974）。他極嗜山水，尤喜巨幅大幛，應其所求而製者，皆四尺至六尺大中堂。
本幅具題簽曰「馬企周先生山水屏。元。」另有尺幅相同之〈百丈積雪〉，上款為劉湖涵，簽書曰「馬企周先生山水屏。貞。」可知同應劉氏所囑而製之四屏，按「元亨利貞」次序排列，似以四季山水入畫，本幅編號「元」，兼寫春景，當屬四屏之首。
