來源
四十年代初，現藏者一家居北平。其父經營糧食生意，嗜白石書畫，彼此頗有交往。現藏者對當年尚為孩童時隨父登門拜謁白石之情況，猶有記憶。所得畫家作品多幅，包括題其父上款之〈蘆橘夏熟〉，曰「遵囑而製」，從題材視之，似寫於夏季，乃應時之作。抗戰勝利前，舉家遷回日本，作品隨身攜回，本幅即其一。
其藏品皆未署年，惟本幅具畫家題「八十三歲又篆」，即一九四三年，屬檢舊作時再題，這與現藏者追述童年時與白石過從之淵源脗合。
