上款：「庸庵」即陳夔龍（1857-1948）， 貴州貴築人。光緒十二年（1886）進士，其仕途順暢，屢獲遷升，先後主政河南、江蘇、四川、湖廣，累官至直隸總督兼北洋大臣，為諸督之首。清室遜位後，退出政府，寓居上海，築「花近樓」，與遺老結社集會，詩酒唱酬。

他好詩詞，擅書法，有〈花近樓詩存〉傳世。撰有〈夢蕉亭雜記〉，記錄所見所聞經歷之事，極具史料價值，為學術界所重。

註：入民國，陳夔龍退隱上海為寓公，不予政事，惟前清時位居顯要，且科名甚早，即無官職在身，仍享尊崇之位，其八秩大壽，誠滬江文化界一盛事，致賀者眾，或撰文，或賦詩，或製圖送贈。本幅乃滬上名醫、留法醫學博士江岳巒囑黃賓老繪贈為賀。

畫上無年款，按庸庵之生年計算，應為一九三七年之作。畫家是年四月中方北上，由此推斷，乃寫於居滬之時。
