貝念潔，蘇州人，出身姑蘇貝氏望族。少好藝術，習鋼琴，「文革」期間，繪畫師事陶冷月、申石伽，與陶氏師生關係尤切，曾隨其往中山公園寫生，並屢獲贈畫。本幅以鳶尾花入畫，素潔雅淡，氣息清新，乃畫家晚年愜意之作。

Light foxing can be found throughout the painting and signs of loss of paper can be found along the left border, which can be improved by restoration. Otherwise, generally in fair condition.
