描述
with shallow rounded sides and cusped corners, oil-painted in the mitsudae technique and slight relief on a dark red-lacquered ground, the interior with a garden scene depicting two scholars seated near a waterfall contemplating red-blossom trees and a tall overhanging pine, an attendant standing beside carrying a ewer while another stands behind a fence of shrubs in front of a stilted pavilion, all surrounded by black-enamelled foliate scrolls and secured with short transversal metal mounts evenly spread over the rim, the raised base lacquered in black
Condition
There is rubbing and wear to the painted decoration on the interior commensurate with age and overall expected tarnishing to the lacquer as visible on the photo. There are some small flakes and occasional retouching to the lacquer ground, including old repairs at two corners, but overall the tray is in good condition.
