the hollow globular bowl collared with a six-lobed dish resembling the petals of a mallow flower, all supported on a hollow flared foot, finely carved in an earlier Ming dynasty style, the interior of the dish with six immortals seated on rocky shores by a wavy sea divided by a variety of trees, including one riding on a giant carp, two others playing on a sheng or looking at a running fox, the underside decorated with two three-clawed dragons striding among ruyi-shaped clouds against a ground of finely incised undulating lines, the bowl similarly carved with a dragon and a phoenix divided by clouds repeated around the foot, the interior lacquered in dark brown

There are three vertical cracks around the cup which have been stabilized. There are other cracks on the underside, including one across the body of a dragon and some stress crackling at the joint between the foot and the cup. There is a restored chip to the rim of the dish, approx 1.5 cm. on the tip of one petal. There is a 2 cm. flake to the brown lacquer to the interior rim of the foot. The interior of the cupstand has otherwise been re lacquered in reddish-brown.
