with shallow sides and an octofoil rim, supported on a short lobed foot, carved overall in an earlier Yuan dynasty style, the interior with two long-tailed birds among densely foliate sprays of chrysanthemum issuing from jagged rocks, one perched with its head turned to the left, the other with outstretched wings about to take flight, all enclosed within a barbed panel and five-petalled blossoms around the sides, the underside similarly decorated with a band of alternating flower heads and peaches among leaves, between plain borders encircling the barbed rim and lobed foot, the base lacquered in dark brown

The dish is in overall good condition. There is some touch up to the red lacquer on the rim, most likely to stabilize cracks. There are typical horizontal crackles to the brownish-black lacquer beneath the base.
