of octagonal form with shallow rounded sides and a flanged rim, raised on a flared base of conforming section, inlaid in iridescent sections of mother-of-pearl, the exterior walls with foliate peony blossoms, the cavetto with eight beribboned auspicious treasures, all finely detailed with incisions, the rim decorated with a border of checkered lozenges enclosing florets, the interior and the base lacquered in black

The tray is in overall good condition with expected minor losses or replacements to the mother of pearl inlays and tarnishing to the lacquer ground, all in commensuration with age. There are some light scratches to the interior surface and touch up to the lacquer at the corners of the rim.
