of rectangular form with cusped corners, supported on an integral trestle stand, finely inlaid in iridescent sections of mother-of-pearl on a black lacquer ground, one side with fluttering butterflies and sprays of peonies growing on jagged rocks, the reverse with an old cherry tree growing on a rocky hill below a misty moon, all above three panels enclosing a spray of morning glory flanked by hollyhock leaves, the bracket-shaped apron and transverse stretcher inlaid with flower sprays and star motifs on the two posts, the latter picked out with red-lacquered details

There is some wear commensurate with age along the edges with some touch up to the black lacquer ground (showing on the catalogue illustration). A few mother-of-pearl inlays are missing, or are worn as on the traverse stretchers, but overall the table screen remains in good condition.
