清乾隆 鎏金銅無量壽佛坐像 《大清乾隆辛巳年敬造》款

cast seated in dhyanasana on a tapered rectangular pedestal with a flower-decorated cloth, the hands in dhyanamudra supporting the ambrosial vessel, the contemplative face with downcast eyes and a gentle smile, flanked by long pendulous earlobes adorned with floral earrings, the hair neatly arranged behind a crown, dressed in a patterned shawl and a dhoti with a sash across his chest, the figure framed by a flaming mandorla, the base inscribed Daqing Qianlong xinsi nian jing zao (Respectfully made in the xinsi year of the Qianlong period in the Great Qing dynasty), in accordance with 1761

The figure is in overall good condition. There is some wear and oxidisation to the gilding as visible in the catalogue photograph. There are some typical surface scratches and minor dents including a few on the figure's face, as well as on his chest, forearms and knees showing on the catalogue illustration. The vase held in his hands had been stuck at some stage with some traces of old glue remaining and the peg on the underside is oxidised and slightly bent. There are two small original repairs in the cast on the top of the base and some further minor expected pitting around the base rail. The detachable mandola also bears some oxidisation to the gilding and some expected minor dents to the interior frame and lower rail. The actual colour is close, if not slightly more golden yellow compared to the catalogue illustration.
