描述
seated in dhyanasana on a high double lotus base, the principal hands in anjalimudra holding an attribute before the chest, the attendant arms raised in vitarkamudra holding a rosary and a lotus, wearing a shawl around the shoulders and a dhoti fastened at the belt, a deer skin falling over his bare torso, his serene face painted in gold and polychrome lacquer, detailed with downcast eyes and arched brows centred with the urna, framed by pendulous earlobes bejewelled with circular earrings and a foliate diadem embellished with turquoise and coral beads, all surmounted by voluminous hair drawn up in a double chignon
Condition
There is some rubbing to the lacquer gilding on the face (showing on the catalogue illustration). There is some expected oxidization to the gilding in commensuration with age, together with some typical pitting or occasional dents on the reverse or the knees, but overall the figure is in good condition. The base has been unsealed and resealed with a later vajra-decorated plaque, a section of the lower rim of the base appears to be missing on the reverse at the bottom of the figure.
