of circular section and modelled after the archaistic vessel gu, the central bulging body surmounted by a trumpet neck with a short vertical lip, all supported on a splayed foot, the exterior of the vessel and the interior of the mouth decorated with colourful enamels against a turquoise ground, the mid-section with a pair of taotie masks interrupted by four vertical flanges, the neck and foot with stylised lappets, floral scrolls and ruyi heads

Condition
There has been wax infilling in small areas, especially at the flanges of the central bulb. General pitting to the enamels and rubbing to the gilding.
