明末 / 清初 青花麒麟紋筒瓶

the cylindrical body rising to gently curved shoulders surmounted by a waisted neck and a flared rim, freely painted on the exterior in cobalt blue with a continuous scene depicting a qilin in a tranquil landscape next to a tree issuing large plantain leaves, the base left unglazed

There is a shallow flake approx 7 x 5 mm under the rim and another minute flake about 4 x 2 mm under the rim. There are some further tiny original nicks or light fritting in the glaze around the mouth. There are some typical pinholes or imperfections in the glaze on the interior. There is some minor pitting or expected light surface scratches on the body, but overall the vase is in good condition. The actual colour is consistent with the catalogue illustration.
