描述

  • jade
carved recumbent resting upon its tucked-in hind legs and kneeling forelegs, its head sharply turned backward towards its short tail, its fur spotted with circular dots, the smoothly polished stone of mottled beige colour transmuting to dark brown on the underside of the deer

Condition

The carving is in good condition with a natural vein running from its neck around its left front shoulder carefully incorporated in the design. There are some old minute nibbles on the edge of the ears. There are two small holes pierced on the underside of the animal, most likely to thread a string. The actual colour is less red and more pale celadon compared to the illustration in the catalogue.
