- Bronze
cast in the form of Bodhisattva sitting on a caparisoned qilin, the figure elaborately adorned in ornamental attire, the serene expression framed by a crown and ornamental earrings, the beast, all supported on a rectangular platform incised with a dedicatory inscription and dated to the fifth year of Hongzhi (in accordance with 1493)
Condition
There is some oxidization and overall surface wear as can be expected and visible on the illustration in the catalogue. Otherwise the figure is in good condition. The actual colour of the patina is somewhat less yellow, more brown compared to the illustration in the catalogue.
