carved standing with a slightly raised front leg, its head sharply turned to the back breathing forth swirls of vapour issuing a book, its muscular limbs and prominent belly covered with incised scales, the translucent celadon stone with 'brown sugar' inclusions, wood stand
Condition
The edge of the hoof of the qilin right hindleg is polished down, possibly to conceal a chip. There is some further occasional expected nibbling along the edges. The actual colour is a little more dense and of a deeper celadon colour compared to the catalogue illustration.
