of cylindrical form resting on three short feet, carved in varied levels of relief to the paler ground below with a continuous scene depicting a scholar seated at his desk holding a cup while a lady stands beside him holding a ewer, flanked by two attendants, one fanning charcoals under a kettle, the other crouching near a brasier
Condition
There is a small old repair to the rim of the brushpot (0.5 by 0.8 cm) and another minute 0.2 cm repair. There is also a small 1 cm. restoration to the rail of the day bed behind the scholar, and another small restoration to the stretcher of the brasier. There are a few age cracks and extending from the base. Otherwise the brushpot is in overall good condition.
