each overlaid on the opaque white ground with a layer of bright translucent blue glass, the first carved with two sprays of foliate peony sprouting from jagged rocks, the second decorated  with bamboo, prunus and pine, the 'Three Friends of Winter', around the spherical body and a lotus scroll on the tubular neck between stiff leaves encircling the shoulder and rim, the latter inscribed on the base with a four-character wheel-cut apocryphal Qianlong mark

There is a 1.2 cm chip beneath the footring of the peony vase and a 0.7 cm flake to its rim. Expected minute nibbling along the edge otherwise. There is a 2 cm. chip to the foot of the 'Three Friends' vase and another of 2 cm. to the mouth rim as well as a 0.5 cm. flake on top of the rim. There is further occasional minor nibbling along the edges and some wear together with encrusted dirt on the interior. The actual colours are consistent if not a little deeper compared to the catalogue illustration.
