of circular form raised on three small feet, finely carved in varied reliefs through the surface layer to the vertically grained ground below with three scholars and an attendant carrying a wrapped qin, standing beside jagged cliffs under two knotty pines, the trunk of the aged trees extending through the clouds encircling the rim while a long branch bearing clusters of needles overhangs above the scholars, all three dressed in long flowing robes gazing at a misty moon in the distance, the bamboo surface smoothly patinated to a warm reddish-brown colour

The bamboo brushpot is in good condition. There are a few expected occasional light scratches or stains to the surface, as well as typical age cracks extending from the base. There is some nibblings or hairline crackles around the edge of the rim and a few ink stains around the interior rim. The carving and patina are very good.
