deftly carved in standard script with an excerpt from the Luoshen fu 'Rhapsody on the Luo River Goddess' by the Han dynasty poet Cao Zhi (192-232), and signed Nanya (Zhu Gui), the finely grained section of bamboo of lustrous warm reddish-orange colour, set with dark wood base and rim mounts
Condition
The brushpot is in overall good condition with the exception of age cracks and minor surface wear as expected.

朱珪，字石君，號南厓，晚號盤陀老人。清中期名臣，另兼文人、書法大家。嘉慶帝敬其為良師，親其為摯友，賜謚號「文正」，詳見恒慕義，《清代名人傳略》，卷1，台北，1991年，頁185-86。
本品所刻，出自曹植《洛神賦》，「翩若驚鴻，婉若游龍，榮曜秋菊，華茂春松。彷彿兮若輕雲之蔽月，飄颻兮若流風之回雪。遠而望之，皎若太陽升朝霞；迫而察之，灼若芙蕖出淥波。」
