彭薇在傳統文人畫中融入現代生活的各種形態與表現方式，作品呈現中國固有文化的親和感，並且別緻十分。其藝術不但對昔日的文人傳統致敬，更表現出當下文化的細膩雅趣。

彭薇以其藝術家的敏銳眼光細細審視藝術進程，宋代山水、明代宮廷畫，甚至是安迪•沃荷的普普藝術和高級定制時裝都是她的靈感來源，但彭薇並不把自己的作品直接歸類到某種藝術運動。她是著名畫家彭先誠的女兒，自幼耳濡目染，從容表達內心世界的思憶、愛戀和美詠，沉浸於舊日的典雅。她的＜錦繡系列＞取材於中國古代宮廷華服布帛及圖案。早唐花卉飾紋與清代水波紋相得益彰，幾百年的文化融合為一首永恆的詩歌。當代作家及畫家徐累曾如此形容彭薇的＜錦繡系列＞：「繪畫的香料點染表面的詩意，我們陶醉其中，幾乎忘掉那些失去的東西… 它用美麗的花飾使失落的情感凝聚成形，讓我們的驚訝在脆弱中精緻。」¹
