Condition
On both chairs there are minor losses to the inside and backs of the aprons, spandrels and the underside of the seat frame which has been painted red in the past. There are parts where the individual parts of the aprons, spandrels and frame have been reinforced or filled-in with wax/plaster and/or glue. There is a ca. 15cm wide crescent-shaped area to the rear of one seat frame in front of he backsplash on one chair. On the other chair, there is a ca. 20cm long piece of wood on the front right hand side of the chair, where the wood has splintered off and was reattached with a plug. The tail ends of the headrest on one chair show a break where the stiles join the headrest, the same is visible on one tail end of the second chair. The back apron on both chairs may have been later replaced.
