「一次我在廣西一個沒有旅遊者去的農村寫生，碧綠的山巒田野在濛濛細雨之中，我在傘下作畫，整個環境寂靜和平，稻田十里芳香，靜靜無聲。山，實際很遠，卻感覺近在眼前。偶而遠處一個披著斗笠的老農，他來到我身邊，看看畫看看我，一聲不響毫無表情地走開了。在這麼大的方圓裡，真是虛空得難以相信。唯有動感的是那大塊大塊灰白色的雲從山頂壓下來，青山淹沒在虛無飄渺之中。濕濕的田園，色彩濃艷……一切空空，空就是美。人生難得有一空，空就有了自我和徹底的自尊，這種我與自然的單獨面對而化為一體，感情就純到了極點，也就不知不覺地完成了畫。」
