This work is in very good condition. There are three minor vertical creases towards the upper left corner and few pinhead size flaking scattered on the canvas, visible only upon close inspection. There is no evidence of restoration under UV.

現為中央戲劇學院教授的姜國芳，作品具有獨立鮮明的風格。其藝術建立在博大精深的中華文化基礎上，從早年堅實的學院派基礎，到「紫禁城」系列的確立，藝術家經歷了數十年的探索，考證了大量明清兩朝的歷史文獻，創造出獨特的「中國新古典主義」。他曾言：「紫禁城融入了我的生活，影響著我的生活方式，改變了我的人生之路。」《如嫣》一作充滿著深刻的文化內涵，主角甜美的外貌、光潔的額頭、整齊的髮髻、白皙的皮膚以及柳眉下的黑眸透露其莊嚴高貴的宮廷氣質。然而，正襟危坐的她手持煙筒，神情肅穆，容或暗示清宮女子孤寂壓抑的心情。姜國芳以其細膩的筆觸，一絲不苟地將背景中清宮屏風和家具鉅細靡遺地呈現出來，又特意讓主角穿上金色的絲袍，與深色的背景創造出強烈的視覺對比。畫面不只構圖和諧，顏色及筆觸的運用皆充分展現其創作熱忱和無窮的魅力，使觀者被畫中人物吸引，彷彿穿梭時空回到了百年前的清宮，令人回味再三。
