The work is in very good condition. There are some minute yellow accretions in the upper left area, mostly towards the top, and a minor stain below the figure's right shoulder. No evidence of restoration under UV.

何多苓的畫作有許多都以單一女人體為對象,他曾論述:「女性特別適合做繪畫的對象,細膩微妙。畫女人體,我覺得情色的因素也很重要。女人體本來就是一個情色的東西,要說它一點都不情色,很虛偽。我覺得這非常正常,因為女人體是一個非常古老的題材了,我覺得很奇怪的就是,從上上世紀開始,所有的評論家都極力想把女人體說成是一種是健康,而不引起人邪念的東西,我覺得那是愧對人性的,是一種很虛偽的說法。但是從畫家角度看,我畫的時候,一點情色感都沒有。我覺得她們就是一個光和色彩的媒介,我把她們看作是一個反射體,我迷戀的是這個。」古典油畫中,女人體一般以神話或宗教故事中的人物形象出現,《樂園》中的主角則為一倒掛於樹幹上的嬉戲裸女,雖然主題是樂園,藝術家卻以極其特殊的視角,不強調女子的臉龐,以模糊其具體形象為整幅作品注入了詩意的情調。何多苓常自言喜愛當代詩歌,特別於畫中添加帶有象徵主義的晦澀性,強迫觀者發揮自己的想像力詮釋其作。
荒涼的風景向來吸引著何多苓,此背景的清冷孤寂傳達的憂鬱與冷調,暗示著一種抒情的傷感。他曾以「繪畫是一個人可以獨立進行並完成的行為」強調其個人主義精神,不使用強烈的視覺刺激讓觀者即刻明瞭畫意,藝術家反而以微妙而複雜的色彩變化,以清冷的藍綠色作背景,將筆刷滲透到畫布上每個細小的局部,呈現微妙而複雜的色彩變化。何多苓始終認為油畫不應淪為印刷品,必須要保持可觸摸的質感和肌理,因此其人體畫追求的不是完美的質地,反而是一種缺憾之美。《樂園》中,藝術家以鬆散舒放的流暢筆法描繪女主角,而背景則又運用中國書畫技法創造一平淡蕭疏的場域,再以油彩顏色的豐富性表現作品的節奏感,畫面不帶激情,卻傳達著藝術家內心純粹洶湧的情感。何多苓通過充滿文人氣質的繪畫,試圖對人的存在提出問題,透過畫作中孤寂與憂鬱的演繹,超越了寫實主義的傳統框架,以個人化的感受,在自身的語言模式中努力探求另外一種繪畫的可能性。何多苓的畫創作數量稀少,此次《失樂園》和《樂園》首度聯袂現身拍場,實為難得。
