光復橋的前身為一座名為昭和橋的吊橋，於1933年建於日治時代，是新店溪上歷史最悠久的橋樑，連接著板橋和台北市。1975年，國際知名建築師林同炎將此改造，設計了在台灣第一座的斜張橋，橋身以兩個大紅相對面的主結構取得平衡，在落成之初，驚艷四方，並帶起一波仿效的風潮。現今的光復橋，除為連結台北城鄉間的交通樞紐，也是許多台北人的生活的回憶所在。 席德進在此採取了仰角做畫，畫中橋身劃過天際，幾筆豔紅，巧妙地勾勒橋上的雙塔與懸索，伴隨夕陽西下的金光，讓作品中心暈染著一股若聖光的輝燦，光暈並溫柔地灑落在踏上歸途的車身與行人上。橋底的河水映照著天光與橋墩的倒影，霎時，婆娑的時光彷彿在此悄然靜止。席德進化平凡為不凡，讓觀者無不被畫境中的真摯之美所感動。《台北光復橋》曾被選做為送給台北空軍一級上將賴名湯八十大壽的賀禮，畫中紅色的雙塔，亦若喜慶的紅燭，表達了深層的祝賀之意，別添此作的意趣。
