This work is in very good condition. There are few spots of white accretion at the left of the front base.

朱銘初期的太極系列多為獨立人物的作品，通過個體的技巧和姿態展現功夫的力道和氣韻。但太極本由陰陽二氣構成，雖能在單一個體中渾然一體，但亦可兩極相生，循環反複至於無窮。朱銘為了強調這點底蘊，以講求陰陽兩股力量的抗勢與和諧關係，即雙人對打的形式，開始了「太極系列」的新階段。
蘇立文曾這樣評價朱銘雙人對招的作品：「太極對打如同兩個對拆的個體，精力在他們之間流轉，像一股強大的電源，相生相剋。陰陽之道不再蘊於單一的個體，而呈現於兩個對手間的相互關係裡……對手間的推力與張力成了力道的來源，像是一股磁力把他們連在一起。作品濃烈地表達了深藏的力量。」不同於兩件分離、成雙對招的作品形式，《飛天》是少數以人物離地方式表現的太極作品，其一方起勁出拳，一方順勢俯臥，一攻一守的體態和精氣如一股無形的電流，在兩人肢體的牽動中活絡貫通、合為一體。在隨屈就伸、人剛我柔的動靜之間，陰陽二氣相生相長、循環互濟。相對獨立招式的自我修煉，增添了比試互動的樂趣。
