Overall in good original condition. The patinated brass surfaces with light surface scratches, dings, rubbing to the patina and some scattered losses to the patina, consistent with age and handling. The sculpture with rubbing and patina loss to the apex of the head. The body with a few minor, possibly later scattered dents, and with one indentation measuring less than ¼ inch to the proper right cheek. The lower portion of the bust where the sculpture would be inserted into the wooden base shows consistent scratches and areas of discoloration, approximately 2 inches from the bottom portion of the base. There is one vertical drip mark, measuring approximately 4 ¼ inches in length to the center portion of the body, as seen in the catalogue illustration. The sculpture with some light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design, localized around the locks of hair and the arms. This lot is being sold with a painted wood illuminated mount which is unlikely to be Hagenauer as an example of this design is not documented in period literature about the firm. The base is fitted with a standard US plug. Please contact the 20th Century Design department for a photograph of the bust including the later base.
