Condition
This painting is in good overall condition and ready to hang.
The panel is flat and even, and cradled with two horizontal bars on the reverse. Ultraviolet light reveals some minor scattered signs of retouching notably intermittent spots along the left and right framing edges, a circa 3 by 1cm vertical line at the centre of the upper edge and some scattered small spots in the sky, and very thin intermittent strokes addressing a hairline vertical circa 30cm crack circa 18cm from the right edge, which is only faintly visible to the naked eye and not visually distracting. When viewed under ultra-violet light the old varnish in the lower half of the composition fluoresces more opaquely, however this would not appear to conceal any notable retouching.
