Condition
Overall the condition of the terracotta is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The terracotta is covered with an original slip. There is some minor flaking to the slip in a few areas, and some minor scratches and abrasions, in particular to the lower back and proper right side of the abdomen. There is some very minor pitting to the surface, including to the back. There are a few slightly visible stable fissures, including one to the base at the front. The arms are cast separately. There is a joint at the proper right arm. There is glue and a metal insert (slightly visible) at the proper right thumb under the shell and there are slightly open joints between the fingers and the shell. There are a few small chips, including to one of the locks of hair at the fringe and to the base.
