Gene Clark (1948-2006)被譽為世界上工藝最精湛的美國獨立製錶匠之一，極可能是是美國最佳製錶匠。

他生前的成就非凡，於2002年獲得由美國鐘錶協會頒發的首個Henry B. Fried 終身成就獎。此獎項為紀年Clark而創立，是該學院的最高榮譽，自2002年至今只另頒發兩次。

Gene Clark曾從事古董槍械修理和槍鎖製造，在1974年對鐘錶學產生興趣並自學，於1976年開始修復手錶。1986年他開始以寶璣的風格和傳統為藍本，製作陀飛輪手錶。

已知由Clark製造的陀飛輪手錶約有七枚。蘇富比十分榮幸能呈獻其中四枚，包括此品，型號32。Clark不用順序的數字排序，型號32容易被誤解。例如，他在1987年完成型號7，於1994年完成型號5。型號32是已知的七枚傑作中最後一枚。

Clark獨自工作，每一枚手造手錶都需要數年時間。型號7是Clark由1983年至1987年用四年時間所製。型號4較複雜，亦用了由1987年至1991年四年時間。型號7見於紐約蘇富比，1988年6月22日，拍品編號732。型號4，見於紐約蘇富比，1998年10月27日，拍品編號449。型號5及型號1，是他的三問腕錶，見於紐約蘇富比，2006年，拍品編號321及322。

一如既往，Clark於其位於科羅拉多州的工坊完成型號32。除了製造機芯、錶殼、錶盤、指針、鏈帶及鑰匙，他更熔金以求滿意錶殼顏色。唯一委外的工序便是Lynton Mckenzie的雕刻工。
