Condition
The work is in good condition overall, crack-free and warp-free. The paint is in stable and good condition. Only upon close observation reveals minute brown specks of media accretion on the background. Examination under ultraviolet light shows no indication of restoration. Framed.

李曼峰（1913-1988年）是印尼現代藝術冒起時期的翹楚，舉足輕重。李曼峰出生在廣州，於1932年移居印尼。當地的文化沃壤和傳統習俗，啟迪其藝術創作。李氏的花卉動物畫作，廣被欣賞，畫中的魚和鳥，與中華文化一脈相連。他的山水畫作，充分展現印尼豐富地貌之餘，也常包含人物於其中。
有別於李曼峰的早期作品，《瀑布》取源中國古代山水畫。寫山水畫，彷擬道人於自然景物之中參看人世，天人合一，亦寄託幽思。 當中蘊含道家陰陽哲理，山石為陽，流水為陰，兩者相互協調，相輔相成。懸瀑垂天紳，滋潤萬物，帶來繁華與財富，水流延綿，福祿無盡。此作呈風水美學，遠山寓意長壽，左邊葉飾迎財接金，右邊樹木護主擋殺，營造畫作結構自然和諧之境。
李曼峰的山水畫創作是出於他對印尼畫家協會及印度荷蘭藝術圈之間緊張關係的回應，展示出畫家在身處動盪社會中對大自然環境中的協調和順之期盼。這些畫作，描繪印尼郊境，芊蔚菁菁，欣欣稻田，山嶺綿延，不過多為多山少水之作，故此《瀑布》畫作，屬李氏少見之畫風，彌足珍貴。
作此畫後四年，李曼峰便辭世，故鑑此懸泉畫作應能窺得畫家晚年心境，或對其於印尼年深日久的藝術生涯的寫照。正如唐代詩人王維言道，「泉聲咽危石，日色冷青松。薄暮空潭曲，安禪制毒龍。」
