Condition
The work is in good condition overall, as are the canvases, which are clear and taut. There are indications of minor wear and handling to the edges of both canvases. There are no ostensible cracking or warping found on the wooden objects. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals no restoration. Unframed.

薩文·高東義(生於196年)是一位泰國當代藝術家,2009年策劃了第53屆威尼斯雙年展的泰國館,知名國際。《既生… 且靜 第2號》是其2003年作品,當中積極探討了城市現代化對於泰國的影響,並反映不少與東南亞息息相關的社會現象和問題。
作品包括雙聯副畫作、一個碗和一張木桌,結合平面與立體,新穎鮮見。畫幅中一顆晶瑩剔透的米粒在陰沉背景中格外突出。雖說棕褐色的碗佔據大幅畫面,但焦點依然不離那顆小小米粒。它更巧妙地令觀者把投放在前方裝置藝術的期待無限放大。
高東義虔心向佛,深受《法華經》啟發,相信眾生皆本性清淨。然而他認為科技的發展已蒙蔽了這本性。《既生… 且靜》系列歷時數年,見證藝術家修佛的不同階段與見解,並提醒世人勿忘極樂世界。
「如今資訊科技甚為便捷,但我們是否漸漸失去自己的思想與情感呢?科技主導社會,新生一代或許已無感心神靈魂。內心的清淨喜悅原被我們珍之重之,現下卻也走遠。」
空碗如我們的心靈般等待灌溉。米粒象徵知識,是一個成長中的魂魄,在以農為重的泰國,它更是存活的根源、奉獻給豐收女神的供品。
此作融匯種種觀念,到底何為社會道德的嚮導?高東義有感「當心靈觸動到一個物件,它便會感受到物件的價值;如果視而不見,那麼便不會對其留下任何印象。只有仁愛之心方能見到世間美麗。」
雖然作品反映泰國緊張時局,但其引申之意並不分國籍,或個人或社會,我們都在瑣事煩囂中尋求覺悟與提升。
