麥西米倫一世(1832-1867年)宣布放棄其大公頭銜與奧地利海軍總司令軍銜，於1863年經由墨西哥保皇黨與法皇拿破崙三世獲墨西哥皇帝麥西米倫一世頭銜。1867年被墨西哥共和黨人逮捕並處死刑，馬奈曾以此事件為題繪《墨西哥皇帝麥西米倫的處決》。
Condition
Mounted in silver and gold. Engraved "No 18 -4 9/32 K" and "11. St - 3 5 8", numbered 198 on shank. Central diamond measures approximately 12.45 x 11.70 mm in closed collet-setting, depth not measurable due to mounting, colour grading not possible to do due to closed back setting, in our experts' opinion the diamond is of I clarity. Smaller rose diamonds bright and lively. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. Well preserved and in good condition.
