第十八世普拉森西亞公爵與瑪麗亞·德·拉·康賽浦西翁女爵生長於政治動盪不安的西班牙內戰時期。他們1931年在馬德里的環球飯店陽台上首度見面，一見鍾情。但是隨後公爵便因為政治因素接受羅馬尼亞大使館庇護，瑪麗亞則避至西班牙北部的聖賽巴斯提安。二十年後，兩人終成眷屬，於著名的聖地牙哥·德·康波斯特拉禮拜堂成婚。
兩人分隔兩地期間曾有短暫在貝亞里茲會面，公爵將此別針贈與瑪麗亞。蝴蝶翅膀象徵自由，正是兩人在政治動盪中的希望，代表愛情的誓言。

Condition
Coloured stones well matched, few nicks and scratches. White opals with faint to light play-of-colour. The two large oval and pear-shaped diamonds are estimated to weigh approximately 1.50 carats each, I-J colour, VS-SI, smaller diamonds nearly colourless to yellowish tints. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with age and wear, some discolouration to the metal. Well preserved and in good condition.
