Abraham Louis Breguet

The bronze bust retains its original patina, some signs of wear overall, the chin seems to have had a shock, the pedestal needs to be fixed to the bronze bust. Overall it is is an interesting testimony from descendants of Abraham Louis Breguet.

This bust was made after the original version from the French sculptor, Jean Antoine Houdon, who was familiar with sculptures of scientists and intellectuals at that time. Interestingly enough, both Jean Antoine Houdon and Abraham Louis Breguet are depicted on an engraving called 'An evening at Princesses de Salm's in 1806 along with  other important artists, scientists and intellectuals all gathering around in Princesse de Salm's Parisian apartment. On the top of his funerary chapel at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, there is a bust of Abraham Louis Breguet from the workshop of Jean Antoine Houdon.
