The Jürgensen family, a dynasty of Danish watchmakers who spanned the 18th to 20th centuries, formed a brand that is one of the world's greatest creators of timepieces. Jürgen Jürgensen was the founder of this illustrious horological family, followed by his son, Urban Jurgensen. Urban Jürgensen worked with some of the most important of all watchmakers, including Abraham-Louis Breguet, Ferdinand Berthoud and the British chronometer maker John Arnold. He made a name for himself as a maker of precision instruments, including chronometers, regulators and thermometers. During the 1860s and 1870s, the company won several Gold Medals for their timepieces and became known for the beauty and precision of their marine chronometers, chronometers and astronomical pendulum clocks.
