the horse standing foursquare on a rectangular base, the sculpted head held down with open jaw revealing the teeth, flared nostrils and bulging eyes beneath the pricked ears flanking either side of a groove extending down the powerful arched neck, with removable curled and grooved tail, the foreign attendant, well-modeled firmly standing, wearing a collared short coat tied at the waist, with arms raised and fists clenched as if holding reins, with bulging eyes beneath furrowed brows, detailed with a wispy beard and moustache, all beneath hair tied up under a cloth, the horse and groom with remains of white and black pigment (2)

Condition

The horse with clean breaks to all four legs at the ankles and across the plinth. There is restoration to a break across the midsection from just behind the front legs up to the back. Both ears have been reattached. There is wear and flaking of the pigment. The groom with both legs restuck, both at the ankles and one also at the knee. There is also a clean break to one forearm restored and consolidated.
