the full-length garment woven with a symmetrical pattern of scattered orchids and butterflies, the edges bordered with a wide band of similar but denser design edged with woven ribbon, the details of the design enhanced with pigments; together with a lady's informal summer robe, the edges with a black border embroidered with butterflies, flowers and fruit with details in couched gold-wrapped threads, the sleeves with an additional wide band embroidered with butterflies (2)

Condition

The vest has slight fading. There is minor separation between colors in a few places and minor fraying. There are small tears noticeably to the floral band to the collar and near the top of the slit. The top of the side slit and the lower edge of the border has been reinforced. A short section of the ribbon has come loose. The lining has faded and is scattered with small stains and minute holes. The catalogue image of the blue robe was incorrectly cropped. Both sleeves are fully entacted. There is minor scattered staining. The couch gold thread has become loose in a couple of places. There is restitching to the piping on the collar and buttons. One button loop has slightly frayed.
