- Cloisonne enamel, gilt copper
each with a pear-shaped body rising from a tall spreading foot to a waisted and knopped neck flaring towards the mouth to an everted rim, set with a dragon handle opposite a curved spout issuing from a gilt-bronze dragon head and attached to the body through a double-lozenge strut, brightly decorated overall with stylised floral strapwork divided by ruyi bands, the foot skirted with a band of gilt lappets above a band of swirls, encircled at the rim by a keyfret band, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a gilt Buddhist lion knop
Condition
Both ewers and covers are in good condition with the exception of some enamel loss around the join between the handle and body of one and a 1.5 x 0.5cm., area of rubbing to the cover of the same, and characteristic pitting to the enamels of both.
