Both cabinets in good general condition, with the inside shelves most likely later replaced. possible replacement to one of the front aprons. One cabinet with a crack to central panel on top surface with some splitting to the wood. Small area of infill to the lower right hand door of the other cabinet. Both with general surface wear and scratching.

黃花梨乃中國最具價值的硬木之一。其木色鮮豔，紋理清晰並帶微香，是明、清時期上乘傢俱的優質造材。匠人充分利用木質色澤和紋理的自然美，突顯雋永、古雅、純樸、大方的氣質。最優秀的黃花梨為海南降香黃檀，木色廣度豐富，材色可分為淺黃到紫赤不等。越南、老撾、緬甸、柬埔寨亦有產花梨，但與海南品種比較，紋較粗，色較暗。清宮視黃花梨為珍貴料材，並常以之製作御用傢俱。胡德生指出，黃花梨傢俱揉合藝術美感、技術工藝、實用價值及中華文化精髓於一身，被鑑藏家冠以「東方之珠」美譽，參見胡德生，《故宮博物院文物珍品選集•明式家具卷•清式家具卷》，冊2，北京，2008年，頁578。

圓角櫃以素雅大方見稱，盛行於明清時期。從本品之構造和簡潔的木工線條，可知此為清初之作。
有一清初例作，結構線條簡單清麗，可與本品比較。有 關中國櫃的歷史發展，參考韓蕙，〈Cabinets and Shelves Containing All Things in China〉，《Journal of the Classical Chinese Furniture Society》，冬，1993年，頁4-29。書中頁13錄有一圓角櫃，尺寸頗大，出自堪薩斯市納爾遜•阿特金斯藝術博物館收藏的作例，作者指出此類木櫃由十五世紀開始逐漸成為常用傢俱。
