carved recumbent on a lotus leaf with head turned sharply towards its back, its beak clutching a leafy spray, the plumage detailed with archaistic scrolls, the stone of an even white tone with russet inclusions; together with a celadon jade phoenix
Condition
The jade duck is in very good condition with the exception of natural nicks to the stone. There are russet-brown inclusions on the head of the duck and to the bottom of the carving on the lotus leaf. The stone is of a slightly greyer tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
The celadon jade phoenix (not illustrated in the catalogue) is in good condition with the exception of a small loss to one tip of the bird's crown, the wings are attached to the body via a twisted metal wire.
