- Wood, lacquer
the principal side decorated with boys engaged in various activities gathering in front of elaborate pavilions with ladies and a seated dignitary in a garden landscape with trees and rocks, the reverse depicting birds sheltering amongst blossoming trees in a rocky landscape, all encircled by mythical beasts, flowers and precious objects
Condition
There are general areas of loss to the lacquer, primarily along the edges (the largest approx. 5x1cm). There are minor age cracks as consistent with age, some of which has been consolidated with paint. There are minor areas of repainting along the edges, and small areas of re-touching to fifth and sixth panel from left (viewed from the bird side). There are traces of white paint to the upper surface of the sixth to eighth panels from left. The feet have later-added struts.
