- cinnabar lacquer and wood box
the hollow bowl with rounded sides collared with a wide six-lobed dish with slightly curved sides, all supported on a hollow spreading foot, carved through the layers of red lacquer on the exterior with organically arranged leafy floral blooms including chrysanthemum, peony, camellia and prunus, the interior of the bowl and foot lacquered in black

Condition
The mouthrim of the bowl has two areas of re-lacquer (approx. 4cm and 3cm long respectively). There are also areas of re-lacquer along the footrim, the largest measuring 2.2cm long. The interior of the foot could possibly been re-lacquered. There are general age cracks with associated flakes around the surface, including one 2.5 x 0.5cm area on the lobed rim and longer cracks to the underside of the dish (approx. 9cm). The black lacquer surface to the interior of the bowl is crackled.
