of square section, well carved and hollowed with flaring walls rising at an angle from a small pedestal foot, finely decorated in low relief with a band of archaistic whorls below a border of key-fret on the flanged rim, and further set with an openwork chilong handle, the mythical beast twisting its way up the cup resting its left paw on a gnarled prunus branch, the base inscribed with a two-character archaistic seal mark yong bao ('treasured forever'), the lustrous stone of yellowish-celadon colour mottled with icy inclusions and occasional russet veins

The right foreleg of the chilong is chipped, there are a few occasional nibbles and bruise along the edges of the carving, including minor nicks on the chilong left ear and a bruise at the bottom right corner next to the handle.
