of cylindrical form supported on a thick footring and recessed base, moulded with ribbon-tied bands around the centre and applied with two sinuous chilong with a bifurcated tail clambering on the sides forming the spout and the handle, one side incised with a vertical groove and set with an rectangular raised panel at the rim impressed with an apocryphal four-character Chenghua mark, the narrow flat cover surmounted by a notched rounded knop

There is a shallow glaze chip to the outer rim of the cover. There is a small chip of approx. 4mm to the rim of the collar. Otherwise the ewer is in good condition.
