- 「順治捌年捌月貳拾壹日」字 「制誥之寶」印
the edict, an imperial promotion conferred upon an official, written in ink and vermilion on a woven silk brocade, further mounted on paper, the text arranged in standard form reading from right to left in regular script (kaishu), and repeated in Manchu script reading from left to right, impressed with the imperial Zhigao zhi bao seal (‘Seal of Edict’) and dated to the 8th year of the Shunzhi reign, corresponding to 1651
Condition
The edict is no longer mounted to scroll ends. The textile has lost a bit of its original colour and has some expected wear and fraying to the edges.
