of rectangular section, the top of the hinged cover carved with a narrow rounded recessed margin, accented by ruyi-shaped brass corners above plain rectangular mounts along the vertical edges, the front embellished with a circular lock-plate set with a ruyi-head clasp, the sides with two loop handles suspended from circular roundels, the wood of warm reddish-brown colour with dense grain and a lustrous patina

Condition
The box is in very good condition with only some expected minor nicks along the rim edges and light scratches and stains in a few areas.
