清十八世紀 壽山石雕「羅漢」立像

the ascetic carved standing on a rock base holding a book in its left hand and clutching an attribute in the right (now missing), dressed in long flowing robes draped over his shoulders and falling in loose folds over his arms partly covering his bare torso, the garment finely incised with petal medallions, 'flaming pearls'and clouds, further hemmed with halved blossoms reserved on turbulent waves, his gentle face bearing a meditative expression with downcast eyes and a serene smile, the stone predominantly of pale buff tone transmuting to grey and crimson-red towards the legs and separate rock stand

The attribute formerly in the right hand of the standing luohan is missing. There are some natural veins in the stone, predominantly towards the lower garment and the back. Some of the pigments on the face are rubbed, but overall the figure is in very good condition.
