of circular form brightly decorated in polychrome enamels with a sage kneeling before a scholar's table writing a calligraphy below a gnarled pine, flanked by two standing attendants, one holding a cup, the other carrying a pile of books from a nearby altar table, all set on the banks of a lake encircled by rocks, lingzhi and wutong, with a crane flying in the distance below swirling multi-coloured clouds at the rim, inset in a carved wood frame raised on a rectangular splayed pedestal carved with foliate scrolls

Condition

The plaque is overall in very good condition. There is some characteristic pitting to the enamels. There is some minor wear to the gilding on the cloison wires. The circular wood frame is made of six sections slightly loose at the joints.
